Justin Drew Bieber (born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Regarded as a pop icon, he is known for his multi-genre musical performances. Bieber was discovered by American record executive Scooter Braun in 2008 and signed to RBMG Records in a joint venture with Usher, achieving recognition with his debut EP My World (2009). It was followed by his debut studio album My World 2.0 (2010), which debuted atop the Billboard 200, making him the youngest solo male act to do so since Stevie Wonder in 1963. The album spawned the single "Baby", which became one of the best-selling singles of all time, and cemented Bieber's status as a teen idol.
Bieber continued his success with the dance-pop albums Under the Mistletoe (2011), his first Christmas album and second to debut atop the Billboard 200, Believe (2012), and Purpose (2015), which spawned three Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles: "What Do You Mean?", "Sorry", and "Love Yourself". The latter two, along with "Despacito" (2017), a remix with Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, made Bieber the first artist since the Beatles in 1964 to replace himself at number one twice. Changes (2020) explored R&B and debuted at number one in various countries, while Justice (2021) topped the charts in ten countries and was led by the singles "Holy", "Lonely", "Anyone", and "Stay" (with the Kid Laroi), the latter becoming his longest-running US number-one single. In 2025, Bieber released Swag, marking a comeback with an R&B soundscape, debuting at number two on the Billboard 200 and spawning hits like "Daisies".
One of the best-selling music artists with over 150 million records sold worldwide, Bieber's accolades include two Grammy Awards, eight Juno Awards, two Brit Awards, 26 Billboard Music Awards, 18 American Music Awards, and 23 Teen Choice Awards. He was named in Time's list of the 100 most influential people in 2011 and Forbes' top ten most powerful celebrities in 2011β2013. Bieber has faced public scrutiny for legal issues, including arrests for vandalism and DUI in 2014, but has focused on his health and marriage to Hailey Baldwin since 2018.
